Education and Hope for Ukraine
Context
In 2022, the war changed the focus for all of us and showed us injustice at its highest level.
From the first moment, we understood that in this context, children from Ukraine need protection and education.
Over time, our response became an integrated one, targeting the education of preschool and school-age children, the mental and socio-emotional health of adolescents, as well as the integration of parents.
By the end of the first year of war, over 1070 minors were reached through direct services and 32 adults were employed.
Displaced children and adolescents from Ukraine need protection and education. And we have ensured that they receive both in a sustainable and tailored manner.
Results
In total, over 600 children were supported to continue their studies in Bucharest.
Another 100 participated in an intensive summer program to recover lost hours and material during the instability of the first months.
And during the summer, another 88 children rediscovered the joy of play in camps organized throughout the country.
These were intense moments, alternating between times of joy and feelings of guilt, but in which the little ones and their families rediscovered the inner strength and the power that a community can give.
Also in the camps, Ukrainian teenagers participated, spending a week disconnected from their phones, in the middle of nature, with non-formal education activities created especially for them.
At the beginning of September, approximately 196 teenagers, children, and parents participated in one of the camps we organized in 2022.
Throughout this year, over 35 volunteers have been with us, and in the first months, 80 individual donors and 5 companies made some of our efforts possible.
