Patient adherence to TB treatment

In this material, we aim to learn how to approach tuberculosis patients to increase their treatment adherence. Tuberculosis patients must follow the entire course of treatment prescribed by the pulmonologist to cure the disease and prevent the development of resistance to tuberculosis drugs.

Maintaining treatment adherence can be challenging because this disease requires the administration of multiple medications for at least six months. It is crucial for medical and psychosocial staff involved in patient care to provide the necessary support for administering treatment, as low adherence can have serious consequences both individually and within the community.
