Study on the discrimination of children and young people with autism in roma communities
This study, conducted as part of the project “MASPA – Measures for Promoting Non-Discrimination and Social Inclusion in Schools, Communities, and the Labor Market for People with Autism, with a Focus on Roma Communities”, aimed to identify and evaluate the experiences of discrimination faced by children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) from the perspectives of parents, teachers, specialized staff within the General Directorates of Social Assistance and Child Protection (DGASPC), and other service providers.
The study’s methodology included the collection of quantitative data through a survey administered to a sample of 129 parents of children with ASD who receive counseling and assistance services at DGASPC centers for individuals with autism spectrum disorders. Additionally, qualitative data was collected through focus groups with parents of children with ASD, and semi-structured interviews with DGASPC specialists, teachers, and specialists from assisted employment services.
