Six brave young Ukrainians speak about hope

Six courageous young Ukrainians are stepping forward to speak about their challenges and hopes, sharing their experiences in a country that has become their refuge.

The Romanian Angel Appeal Foundation (RAA) is organizing an event on December 6 at the Apollo111 Theatre in Bucharest. The event aims to bring together young people from the Ukrainian community and members of civil society who have dedicated much of their recent work to supporting Ukrainian refugees.

In an evening dedicated to supporting those affected by the war, the tones of hope and strength to move forward will mark the conclusion of a year overshadowed by conflict.

The event opens at 3:00 PM, beginning with a knowledge exchange among non-profit organizations. In the second part, six young Ukrainians will take the stage to share their personal experiences and how displacement has influenced their worldview and outlook on the future.

“May 31 was the day everything came to life, the day we opened the doors of the youth center dedicated to young people affected by the war in Ukraine. We wanted to create a safe, colorful, energetic, and joyful space, and we believe we have succeeded.

So far, we have conducted workshops on personal and psycho-emotional development, health education, documentary film and photography workshops, recreational activities, visual and fine arts workshops, excursions, camps, and Romanian and English language courses, among many other activities.

And on December 6, we invite you to meet Nazar, Olesia, Oleg, Anna, and Dasha, as we have come to know them at the Hub—authentic, brave, and full of hope. Young people who have overcome difficult moments and have chosen to plant thoughts and plans for the future,” shares Andreea Negoi, the youth center coordinator.

The main supporters of this event are UNICEF Romania and NRC – Norwegian Refugees Council, two international non-profit organizations that also fund numerous initiatives and projects dedicated to the educational, social, medical, and integration support of refugees.

Among these projects is the Ukrainian Youth Hub, a youth center dedicated to young people affected by the war.

“Youth at the Microphone” invites guests on Tuesday, December 6, at Apollo111 Theatre, promising surprises, emotions, and unique moments. The foundation is confident that together we can bring hope into the lives of those who need it in 2023 as well.
